Determining preferences for consumers regarding telephone vs video telehealth consultations

Flagship Program: Intelligent decision support to improve value and efficiency

Project Description

With the increase in adoption of telephone and video telehealth consultations during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is no clear evidence around the preference health consumers have for using this as a channel of communication.
This project will look to evaluate health consumer’s preferences for telehealth. This may be based on;
• Consumer’s age
• Perceived and actual costs associated with telehealth
• Access to technology and reliable connectivity
• Type and time of consultation (i.e. regular ‘visit’ or care needed after hours, reason for visit, GP or specialist consultation)
This project is linked to the work outlined in DHCRC-0129 – Reimagining health care in Australia, the journey from telehealth to 21st century design.
