“Digital information is the bedrock of high quality healthcare” begins the new report issued by the ADHA published August 4. We agree, but how is the government planning to implement a safe, seamless and secure system to meet the needs of modern Australia?

Elizabeth Foley, Digital Health CRC Bid Manager suggests the proposed Digital Health CRC, which has 45 industry partners and 15 university partners, already aligns well with these aims.

According to latest ADHA’s report, there are 7 priority areas to focus on from now until 2023:

1. Health information that is available whenever and wherever it is needed

2. Health information that can be exchanged securely

3. High-quality data with a commonly understood meaning that can be used with confidence

4. Better availability & access to prescriptions & medicines information

5. Digitally-enabled models of care that drive improved accessibility, quality, safety and efficiency

6. A workforce confidently using digital health technologies to deliver health and care.

7. A thriving digital health industry delivering world-class innovation

These really map across well to the Digital Health CRC’s 4 research themes (as outlined below) especially developing a thriving digital health industry!”- Elizabeth Foley, Digital Health CRC bid Manager
